Support
Palliative Manitoba has developed many programs and services to meet the needs of those nearing end of life as well as those needing support following the death of a loved one.
Our programs and services are aimed at supporting individuals and their families in many different ways; first as a resource when they are introduced to Palliative Care, next as they move through their palliative journey to their final days and final hours. Our support for adults and children continues through the grief process; during telephone conversations, support.
Telephone Bereavement Support
Palliative Manitoba offers one-to-one telephone support by trained volunteers for grieving individuals throughout Manitoba.
This program offers a safe environment to grieving individuals where they can speak openly about their feelings. Each individual can expect to receive a weekly call from a trained volunteer once a match has been made. Each call can be up to one hour in length and a match can last for 12 – 15 months
Please note this is not a 24-hour service or a crisis line. This is not a professional counseling service but rather a friendly support program. Clients must self-refer and will then undergo an intake call to determine suitability for the program. Following that, clients will be matched with a volunteer. This process may take several weeks depending on the availability of volunteers.
Please call our office for more information or to sign up for service at 204-889-8525 ext. 226.
If you are in crisis please contact the Klinic Crisis Line at 204-786-8686.
